How Nutrient Density Testing Measures Ingredient Quality

2019-12-13T12:08:05-05:00December 13th, 2019|

Are we really getting the nutrients we need from our food — or are we just getting calories?  How can food truly be used as medicine?  How can we identify, support and scale ways of growing food that add to our health?

A critical piece for answering all these questions — is nutrient density testing, one of the core outcomes-based tests that the Grounded Growth strategy recommends.  Learn more about it — and the amazing woman leading this research effort, our strategic partner Dr. Jill Clapperton in this great interview done by fellow Grounded Growth members Tim and Tyler Nuss!

It’s rare that just sharing a podcast can help fix major problems . . […]

Grounded Growth Named As Key Organization Moving Regenerative Agriculture Forward

2019-09-18T11:45:09-04:00September 17th, 2019|

Over the years, I’ve learned so much from the New Hope Network.  From attending their amazing Natural Products Expo West & Expo East trade shows, to their natural business school course . . . to staying up-to-date on the latest consumer trends through the great content they continually provide.  As company that is trying to bridge the gap between farmers and the natural products sector, a huge part of that pathway runs right through the New Hope Network.

So, when they included us in a list of 10 amazing organizations moving regenerative agriculture forward . . . it was quite a day!  Of course, […]

This week, our #RegenerativeMinute video provides a snapshot of why NOT tilling the earth is so important to growing nutrient-rich food. Currently, both conventional and organic farmers rely a great deal on tillage to control weeds.  But some farmers have found a way to grow crops while keeping the ground covered and stable — these no-till farmers have been at the forefront of creating regenerative farming — a way of farming that restores natural resources, rather than depleting — or even sustaining them.

There are many other benefits of NoTill of course – we will feature some of those aspects in future episodes.  You can only […]

You Can Expand Regenerative Agriculture RIGHT NOW — and It’s Super Easy

2018-09-21T19:10:00-04:00September 19th, 2018|

More and more people are getting excited about all the great things regenerative agriculture can do.  Our case study demonstrates that together consumers, businesses and farmers can expand regenerative farming practices on the land right now!

As a reminder, regenerative agriculture is a way of farming that builds up soil health.  It provides a path to mitigate climate change by drawing down a greenhouse gas from the air and storing it as beneficial carbon in the ground.  These farming practices build robust microbiomes underground — making a farm more resilient.  The result: farmers are able to maintain or increase yields over time using fewer chemicals.  It is a farming system that also creates […]

Falling in Love with Regenerative Agriculture

2020-07-06T10:17:12-04:00February 14th, 2018|

“Find a pro-environmental, pro-agriculture issue that is consistent with market-based principles for the Senator to lead on.”  It was 1999 and I was working as a legislative assistant for a U.S. Senator from my home state of Kansas on the issues of agriculture, energy and the environment.  I took to the assignment with the determination and enthusiasm only possible when you don’t really know that you are being sent to find a unicorn.

I set about getting input from multiple environmental and agricultural organizations.  Thankfully, Environmental Defense Fund and The Nature Conservancy introduced me to an idea I would grow to love — and one day, launch a company in […]
