Making Regenerative Real

2020-09-25T12:10:08-04:00September 25th, 2020|

By Sara Harper
Just like the Velveteen Rabbit said, “Once you are Real, you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”
My fervent hope is that Regenerative Agriculture becomes REAL to people . . . not just the next fad to feel virtuous about — and certainly, not a new club for the environmental elite to use against the great unwashed masses.
I want people to really understand the beauty of BALANCE — and that this is the path forward for healing […]

Regenerative agriculture.  We talk a lot about it on our site, but there are still many people who don’t know what it is.  You might be one of them?

What you probably DO know is that you are often being misled from marketing claims about natural, sustainable or organic food that seem to provide what you are looking for — but often, do not.

To help you cut through the confusing maze of “natural food” marketing and give you an insider’s eye for knowing what’s what, we have created a new membership option — our Regenerative Consumer Circle.

We also created a white paper to talk through […]

Make a Statement – Vote for Jenn!

It’s not often that you get a chance to send a signal directly to the food and agriculture industry about the kind of example you’d like to see more of just by clicking a button.

You have a chance to do just that by voting online for the owner of one of our brand partners, Jennifer Kocher,  in the Emerging Food and Ag Leaders campaign.

Make a statement – show support for one of the few food companies that has actually paid a farmer to expand regenerative agriculture and is actively working to help them convert regeneratively-grown crops into ingredients to use in her pro

Transitioning to Regenerative Agriculture: A Farmer’s Story

2019-12-18T15:49:02-05:00December 18th, 2019|

There’s a lot of talk ABOUT farmers transitioning to regenerative agriculture . . . but often, not enough talk FROM farmers sharing how they are doing it!

Big thanks to our friends at The Modern Acre podcast (members of Grounded Growth!) for the nice interview they did with another one of our amazing farmers from Canada, Derek Axten.

Click the button below to listen to Derek’s story — which includes how he got into regenerative, what’s worked and challenges he’s faced along the way.

Grounded Growth Named As Key Organization Moving Regenerative Agriculture Forward

2019-09-18T11:45:09-04:00September 17th, 2019|

Over the years, I’ve learned so much from the New Hope Network.  From attending their amazing Natural Products Expo West & Expo East trade shows, to their natural business school course . . . to staying up-to-date on the latest consumer trends through the great content they continually provide.  As company that is trying to bridge the gap between farmers and the natural products sector, a huge part of that pathway runs right through the New Hope Network.

So, when they included us in a list of 10 amazing organizations moving regenerative agriculture forward . . . it was quite a day!  Of course, […]

This week, our #RegenerativeMinute video provides a snapshot of why NOT tilling the earth is so important to growing nutrient-rich food. Currently, both conventional and organic farmers rely a great deal on tillage to control weeds.  But some farmers have found a way to grow crops while keeping the ground covered and stable — these no-till farmers have been at the forefront of creating regenerative farming — a way of farming that restores natural resources, rather than depleting — or even sustaining them.

There are many other benefits of NoTill of course – we will feature some of those aspects in future episodes.  You can only […]

Share the Risk

2019-02-27T15:21:22-05:00February 27th, 2019|

If we want a different food system — one that is optimal for both people and the planet, we ALL have to share the risk it takes to get there. Consumers have the power💥 to create an incentive for food companies that are fighting hard for their attention— to support farmers who can heal the earth 🌎 for us all! Together, we can help farmers shift toward regenerative agriculture at a scale that can make a real difference.

If we want to share the rewards of an agricultural system that uses less chemicals and stores carbon in the ground, we all have to share the risk that comes with making big changes to a small margin […]

Falling in Love with Regenerative Agriculture

2020-07-06T10:17:12-04:00February 14th, 2018|

“Find a pro-environmental, pro-agriculture issue that is consistent with market-based principles for the Senator to lead on.”  It was 1999 and I was working as a legislative assistant for a U.S. Senator from my home state of Kansas on the issues of agriculture, energy and the environment.  I took to the assignment with the determination and enthusiasm only possible when you don’t really know that you are being sent to find a unicorn.

I set about getting input from multiple environmental and agricultural organizations.  Thankfully, Environmental Defense Fund and The Nature Conservancy introduced me to an idea I would grow to love — and one day, launch a company in […]
